These awnings are commonly referred to as Fall arm or Drop arm awnings and consist of normally two spring-loaded support arms (one on either side of the awning) and which in turn are attached to the building. Drop arm awnings give the added advantage that they can be retracted completely when not in use and can be raised and lowered in an arc from 0 to 180 degrees thus providing shade protection throughout the day by adjusting the pitch and giving total privacy when set at 180 degrees.

Drop arm awnings are generally ideal for weather protection over windows and door openings and perform well in windy conditions. The awning frame/structure is made from high quality non-corrosive materials and available in many powder coated colours.
